Natural History Centre
Inspired Ecological Education. FOR ALL AGES.
Connecting generations to deepen our bond with the more than human world.
Our Centre is a vibrant place where visitors to it can learn about the complexity of relationships in the natural world through an exploration of exhibits filled with local specimens and information loosely organized around rocks and fossils, the sea, the air, and the land. Our intention is to enhance an understanding of the interconnectedness of all things in nature. Our resource area is filled with books and activities for everyone, especially children and families!
The Natural History Centre is overseen by Volunteer Stewards, several of whom are previous employees of the Hornby Island Community School: they bring their love of teaching & sharing knowledge, and set the direction for the development and maintenance of the collection, displays, and programming – Hornby Island could not have this beautiful space and fantastic programming without them!
