Conservancy Hornby Island Earth Day Shoreline Cleanup

Earth Day is fast approaching and with Covid still very much with us the shoreline cleanup will be self-directed, physically distanced, just as it was last September. If you would like to participate in a cleanup this Spring, please join forces with someone that you “bubble” with, or would be comfortable with. Decide what area of shoreline you would like to focus on.

Chosen Area
Please let Joanne know where you would like to devote your efforts. It’s better to have many stretches covered, and problem areas well taken care of.

Choose Another Day?
As long as you can get the rubbish to the Depot by Sunday 25th (of course Friday & Saturday are depot days too, feel free to drop off any of those 3 days.)

Bags
There will be a supply of large heavy black plastic bags in a container at the end of Joanne’s driveway – 5110 Seawright Rd – help yourselves. Try to only take 1 per stretch rather than 1 per person. If you’d like bags delivered to you, please contact Joanne.
 
Garbage Pickup
If you can take what you have collected to the depot yourself, that would be great. If you need to leave larger items, or heavier bags at a beach access, or on a roadside, let Joanne know what and where so a volunteer with a truck to pick it up. Similarly, if you gather a pile of detritus on a shoreline best accessed by boat, please Joanne know where and how much.
