A Ceremony of Words and Music, produced by David Kaetz
A joyous and contemplative event, presented in the context of Anne Ngan’s exhibit, and inspired by the Sufi ceremony of SAM’A. It weaves sacred and heartfelt poetry with composed and improvised music. Among the poets are Rumi, Hafiz, Kabir, Rilke, Ausländer, Domin, Kaleko, Sarton, Aiken, Billie Holliday and Leonard Cohen. The poems are read and the music performed, in various combinations and on a wide range of instruments, by David, Chelka, Diane Smith, Margo McLoughlin, Ann Elliott-Goldschmid and Avi Dolgin.
