Kate Patten and NELP:   Neuro Emotional Literacy Project

Kathryn (Kate) E. Patten (B. Ed., M.A., Ph.D.) is an adjunct professor at SFU, and Outreach Coordinator

for the ENGRAMMETRON, the educational neuroscience laboratory.

Kate is the first editor and co-author of Educational Neuroscience: Initiatives and Emerging Issues.

Her Ph.D. elucidates the neuroscience and neuropsychology of emotion and its impact on teaching and learning.

As director of the Neuro Emotional Literacy Program (NELP),  partnered with School District #75 (Mission)

and New Spirit Homes for aboriginal teens, Kate’s current research focuses on improving emotional literacy

in order to promote emotional and physical well-being in familial groups.
