Stephanie Wells

Long-time Hornby Island resident Stephanie Wells is a painter, writer and active member of the island community. Her paintings range from coastal landscapes and familiar Hornby scenes to boats, figures, animals and more abstract work.

Stephanie’s paintings reveal an eye for both the character of a place and the everyday subjects within it. Harbour scenes and boats recur throughout her work, alongside the forests, shorelines and distinctive arbutus trees of the island. Her approach ranges from careful observation to looser, more expressive use of colour and brushwork.

Stephanie has also contributed extensively to Hornby community life, including many years with the Hornby Festival Society and the Hornby Island Athletic Association. Her writing has appeared in The First Edition and other publications.

In August 2026, Stephanie presented a one-woman exhibition at the Hornby Community Hall, bringing together a diverse collection of her paintings and drawings.
