Rochelle Chinnery has had an independent studio practice for over 30 years. She trained with potters in Japan for four years before formal ceramics studies at Sheridan and Emily Carr Universities. She is grateful for support from the Canada Council, BC Arts Council, Burlington Art Gallery, Surrey Art Gallery, C.R.E.T.A. Rome, and Hornby Island Arts Council for grants, exhibitions, and residency opportunities. She also is a recipient of the BC Applied Art & Design Award. Her work has been exhibited internationally and is held in public and private collections in Australia, Korea, Croatia, Italy, and Japan. More recently, her ceramic work has evolved into a mixed-media practice incorporating textiles, embroidery, and photography. Rochelle holds a Master’s in Integrated Studies, where she explored the role of material craft practice in developing ecological identity and connectedness.
