Photography

My name is Don Peterson. I’m a Canadian living on Hornby Island – on the wild west coast of British Columbia.

Photography is my calling and it has opened my eyes to the world. I don’t photograph subjects, I photograph the way they make me feel. This may seem like a strange concept but it’s the best way to describe my approach. I am not a specialist and my images run the gamut from landscapes, wildlife, architecture, portraiture to street photography. I wrestle with every image I make– from preparing to press the shutter through post-processing – and sometimes the end product bears little resemblance to what the camera recorded. I assume perfection is possible but probably not by me. If that’s all you ever know about me, it’s enough to say you know me well.
