Hornby artist Steve van Vugt patrols the island’s beaches with an eye for the unexpected, seeing possibilities in driftwood and natural forms that most of us would walk right past. With imagination, humour and a deep appreciation for the warmth and character of wood, he transforms his finds into wonderfully creative and unique sculptures.

A former artist-in-residence at Sooke Harbour House, Steve is also featured in Out of the Woods: Woodworkers along the Salish Sea, celebrating distinctive West Coast artists working with wood.
