The Crow’s Nest Cottage is a luxurious cottage for two, perched on the cliff-side, overlooking Tribune Bay beach. It was designed and built by Blue Sky Design, features a vaulted ceiling, gorgeous fir detailing and beautiful slate flooring. This is the perfect spot for a couple to escape the busyness of life and relax together into the natural beauty and peace on Hornby Island.
During the summer, the cottage is rented by the week (Sunday to Sunday). From September through June shorter visits (3-night minimum) can be accommodated.
The Crow’s Nest cottage is very spacious – 750 square feet plus a large deck overlooking beautiful Tribune Bay. It features a large master suite with a very comfortable (new) king size bed, fine cotton linens and a goose down duvet. The bathroom has a walk-in shower, heated slate floor and skylight. The living area features double sliding doors going onto the deck – the perfect spot to relax with a glass of wine, read a book or relax into the beauty of the sea and the waves lapping below. The third room has a small kitchenette and library. The deck overlooks the bay where you can check out the yachts and Bald Eagles that frequent the area. The deck overlooks a popular eagle-perching tree.
The compact kitchenette includes everything you need to prepare meals – microwave, toaster, bar-fridge, blender, coffee machine, bar sink, and beautiful island-made pottery serving pieces. Please note, there is no stove but there is a Weber gas barbecue with a side burner. There is also a larger fridge by the carport – available to guests to store extra food/beverages (and ice cream, of course!). The cottage has WiFi, Bluetooth enabled speaker and a smart TV and dvd.
The Crow’s Nest Cottage is for the couple in search of the best the island has to offer – expecting everything to be of high quality and meticulously maintained. There is easy access to the beach/tennis courts. The Cottage is in an excellent location for those who love to cycle, hike, take photos and relax. Turn left outside the front door and a 10-minute walk through our property takes you to Tribune Bay Beach in the Provincial Park. Turn right and walk through our property to Helliwell Provincial Park. For those who want to drive their car to the beach, there is private parking within 100 yards of our private stairway to the beach. It is safe to leave kayaks down by our beach house for ease of launching.
Bicycles can be stored securely in our garage – next to the carport.
The owners of the property often reside on-site and make a point of respecting your privacy. At the same time, they are available to advise you where to get the perfect pieces of pottery, jewelry, paintings and other artwork designed by the many talented local artists. They have an organic garden and greenhouse and during the growing season often provide guests with tasty produce and flowers. This is an ideal setting year-round. The cottage is also very cosy during the off-season months. Come enjoy the winter storms with waves crashing on the point across the bay. Spring is spectacular with the herring run, bird migration and wildflowers in the parks. Fall is favoured for its warmth and peacefulness along with the harvest featuring local organic produce. Oysters are available to harvest at low tide. We can direct you on buying local produce including eggs, chicken, vegetables and fish to barbecue.
There are no laundry facilities in the cottage, but for people staying longer than one week, it is possible to use the washer/dryer in the owner’s home.
Note: Because of the close proximity to the cliff side, this property is not suitable for children. With pre-arranged permission, we do accept pets.
Area Attractions
The cottage is situated on 3 acres of garden and forest, away from the noises of a city. Walk out the door and turn east, and you’re on a beautiful path to Helliwell Provincial Park. Turn west, and you’re headed to Tribune Bay Provincial Park beach, the most beautiful beach on the coast. Or — bring along your easel and paint in the garden, take photos of the island, read a book, have a nap, go to the many art studios, have a nap, sip wine on the deck, have a nap.

Pricing
Pricing:
$2,800 per week (plus 8% PST & 3% MRDT) – June 16-September 15/24
$300 (plus 8% PST & 3% MRDT) per night (September to June) with a 3-night minimum.
Payment: A 50% deposit is required to hold your reservation dates. All fees (rental plus 8% PST) are due 30 days prior to the first date of your rental. Payments must be in the form of e-transfer.
Cancellation Policy: If you cancel, we will open your dates for re-rental. If we successfully re-rent the cottage for your dates, we will refund 90% of money paid, by e-transfer.
Minimum stay: one week June 16-September 15.
