Annual Hornby to Denman Swim

Time to swim again!

We are doing our yearly swim from Hornby Island near the Thatch, to McFarlane Beach on Denman Island. Wear a wetsuit unless you are a serious cold water long distance swimmer:) All are invited to join, either by swimming, or by some form of watercraft to help the swimmers along including kayaks, SUPs, motorboats, etc.

We will be hopping onto a ferry about 2 pm so we can be swimming during the high slack tide of 3:20 pm. If you miss the ferry – you miss the crew. The ferry is scheduled for 2pm, but will most definitely be shuttling around that time so make it by 1:40 at least as we won’t wait on the other side for you, as making the slack tide is important. There is no sign up, it is free, there is no other agenda than enjoying the ocean with friends and a support crew to warn boaters of our presence. Bring food and snacks to have at McFarlane beach for when we arrive, you will be happy you did:)

If you aren’t on the water, please come to the beach and cheer on the folks as they arrive from the swim as we have a beach party as the fastest swimmers make it in 35 minutes, and folks have taken 2.5 hours. All are impressive in swimming the 1.8 km stretch of ocean.
