Welcome to Sweet Hornby! We, Jacqueline and Rudy, are an active retired couple. We packed up and moved all our worldly possessions to this property where we completed the build of our dream home in October 2017. We designed and built it with a complete private living space on the ground level. In this way, we were able to maximize on the stunning high bank oceanfront view. We occupy the upper level with our own entrance. The 470 square foot living space below has a living room and a master bedroom with a queen bed. The bathroom has a shower, (no tub). Between the living room and bedroom there is a small multifunctional space with a big sink, a mini-fridge and French press coffee pot. Coffee is provided along with other treats. We offer a continental breakfast as well. There is no kitchen as such. There is a propane barbecue on your private deck facing the beautiful ocean. You are located next to the covenanted Gary Oak Grove, the most northerly grove of this oak species in North America. Adjacent to the path to Helliwell Provincial Park which is a mere 5-minute walk from the suite. Each room has large windows with a view that can surprise you with eagles perched in Douglas fir trees twenty feet away. Below in the ocean Orcas, humpback and grey whales have been sighted regularly. Oh, and we cannot forget our resident seals that frolic here freely as well. Deer are not far off most of the time. It is truly a natural paradise. A 2-minute drive or a 15-minute walk will get you to Big Tribune bay beach where it feels like the California of the north.
This is ideal for couples and is not suitable for young children as we are on high bank and there are no fences. Rudy and I are home most of the time to answer any questions you may have. If we are not home, we could very well be out fishing. We have a white Labrador Retriever named Boomer. He is a very enthusiastic lovable lab who is in his own world separate from the suite.
Our domestic water is perfect. (no smell or bad taste) It has been certified by Island
health and is drinkable right from the tap. In addition, we have added a full professional
filtration and treatment system just for your and our comfort.
Linens are provided but you must bring your own beach towels.
No smoking and no pets.
Hope to Sea you soon.
