Folk group with lovely harmony vocals and tasteful backing strings (mandolin, cello, guitar) and flute. An eclectic mix of moving original songs which reflect Hornby roots, to covers ranging from Pachabel’s Canon, to traditional ballads, to pop-folk. Rich acoustic music for intimate romantic occasions, or folksy and celebratory venues.

Jill Candlish (vocals, flute, guitar): Passionate about music-making, teaching, and performing, and considers herself a ‘community musician’; sharing the love of music with neighbours and friends in a very supportive community. She loves to explore different styles of music and has performed with Balkan Trio, Family Band, Rosehips, and Amani Marimba band.

Betty Nightingale (vocals, guitar, mandolin, ukelele): Has been playing music for as long as she could hold an instrument and singing with her family on the long trips to cottage country. She’s played guitar, mandolin, ukulele and sung in several bands but more seriously since arriving on Hornby Island. Also performs with The Songbirds.

Cath Gray (vocals, cello): A lifetime of singing in choirs instilled her love of making harmony with various groups on Hornby (the Dr. Laura Choir, Rosehips, The Songbirds) and elsewhere. Played cello with Rosehips, classical gigs with Janey Bennett, Jean Woodley, and Carol Quinn. Loves to jam at parties! She is also a DJ on CHFR, Hornby Island Community Radio.
