A senior who is still painting, Margaret Thoma is a Graduate of the Vancouver School of Art where she studied under teacher Jack Shadbolt. She also studied in England at The Central School of Art in London.
Margaret says “I have a strong connection to Hornby Island as my Dad sketched and painted here with Charles Scott, who was the founder of the Vancouver School of Art. He owned the red house on Ostby and he and my Dad were both Glaswegians. I have been coming to Hornby for about 30 years and now my son – who is also an artist – and I share a studio on his property.”
Margaret finds the scenery of Hornby Island inspiring and loves the community, spirit, and creativity she finds here.
