Dogs with responsible owners welcome!
Our comfortable house has been recently updated and offers the convenience of a fully appointed modern kitchen with the warmth of antique furnishings. It is situated on a spacious sunny clearing, with privacy assured by the surrounding cedar and fir forest. The kitchen/dining area opens through sliding glass doors onto a large deck, where you can sunbathe or rest under the shady grape arbor. A large gas barbecue and dining table on this deck provide for private outdoor dining. There is also a cool shaded deck across the front of the house to relax on, or you can read or snooze on the hammock under the cedars. At night, our sky is flooded with thousands of stars.
Sandpiper Beach, a popular local swimming area with impressive sandstone formations, is a 10-minute stroll away. It has a mowed grass area for Frisbee or dog play. Access to Mt. Geoffrey’s walking and bike trails is similarly close. A 5-minute drive or short bicycle ride takes one to Little Tribune Beach (dog-friendly and clothing-optional), Big Tribune Provincial Park Beach (dogs prohibited), or shopping at the Co-op grocery/liquor/hardware store and nearby boutiques. Dog-friendly Whaling Station Beach is a bit further, but nothing on Hornby Island is further than a 15-minute drive.
The property has a large fully-fenced yard. Guests’ dogs must be treated for fleas and may not be left alone inside the house.
Hummingbirds visit our feeders and flowers year-round; deer graze in the surrounding area. Guests are welcome to pick the blackberries on the edge of the yard in season. We do request that they leave harvesting produce from the garden and fruit trees to us, any excess of which will be willingly shared.
